Atari 800 core & US keyboard cursor keys

Postby 917k » Sat Mar 11, 2017 4:43 am

Hello,

It seems the (wonderful) Atari 800 core uses the European type keyboard for the key layout which places the 4-key cursor cluster directly to the left of the ENTER key using [{ for ↑, }] for ↓, '@ for ←, and #` for →. U.S. keyboards however have ;: and '" in the place of '@ and #` which make using the ←→ cursor keys a problem. Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you!
Steve

Modifying the mist.ini you can remap the keyboard, howto on Wiki:

However, I'm not sure the Atari800 core supports this (has a non-standard, own-style menu), but it worth to try.

I wonder if its a ROM swap that also might be the case, While I dont know Atari 8bits well did they use the same ROM image for all systems or different ones for USA / Europe .. which might account for the different keymappings?
